growing up, i watched my mom take on so many DIY projects. if she wanted a dimmer on a switch, she went to the library and looked up some basic electrical to change it herself. a leaky faucet? there's a book at the library for that too. she would tackle anything and everything.
one day i realized why she did this. and of course it wasn't until i was much older and had moved out and started being an adult on my own. while i know she enjoyed it, she wanted to make her house lovely and a home. but we simply didn't have the money to do all the things she wanted to do. so she did them herself. she taught herself. she simply took it upon herself and her own hands to make her house into a home.
not long ago, i realized i too wanted to make things in my home better. there are some similarities - things are expensive! they do not train you for this adult thing very well when you're a kid! but i also see things in this world just being disposed of so easily. and i also see the lack of skills that most people now lack when it comes to tools and simply hanging curtains.
so now i’m on a mission to help others learn how to use tools, not be afraid of what i know they are capable of and show people that if i can do it, you can do it too. it takes some simple determination to learn, willingness to try and you too can simply make your home lovely - in anyway you want.
ready? if you're ready to do that, follow me on instagram @simplylovelydiy and let's start turning your house into a home and make it as simply lovely as can be!
